30 DAY NO MAKEUP CHALLENGE

Since I've become a whore for makeup products, I collected an overwhelming amount of eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, lipglosses and more, for someone that isn't even a freelance mu artist.  I've spent an overwhelming amount of money each month whether in stores or online, and now I'm challenging myself for the next month.  For the next 30 days, starting July 18th, I am vowing not to buy a single beauty product.  I initially wanted do a 60 day challenge, but I won't push it.  I will start off small and if I can extend it longer, then I shall.  What I'm hoping to accomplish during this challenge is to save money, and make use of the items I already have and the ones I have yet to use.  I'm also challenging my fellow beauty bloggers and readers of this blog to do the same.  Good luck!

SUMMER MUST HAVES (MAC BLOT POWDER)

I don't care if you have dry skin or oily skin, like myself, every woman must have a blotting powder in their handbag, when they're on the go.  Summer can make even the driest skin, feel like an oil slick! I know that some women, prefer the blotting sheets but the powder, in my opinion, leaves a flawless finish to your skin.  I love that the MAC blotting powder compact is slimming, so it can be tossed in any clutch.  Just a little dab of the powder, on your oily spots, will eliminate any greasy residue on your face.

MINI SHOPPING HAUL

It has been a long time since I had a day of shopping where I feel so good about my purchases.  I never intended on spending more money than I already had, but on this occasion, I was able to get some good deals on some must wanted items.  My intentions were to purchase a pair of black, flat, sandals, but I came up with nothing, but I was able to get some of these items, instead...

I've been meaning to get a pair of flat brown sandals, and I saw this pair of Steve Maddens at Famous Footwear for $59.00, originally priced at $70.00.  It was more than I was willing to pay, but I loved how it looked on my feet.

Bandolino is a brand more reserved for the mature woman, but I saw this pair at Marshalls thought it would be perfect to wear during the summer.  I love the gladiator style and small wedge heel.  This shoe was priced at $29.00.

I was instantly in awe when I saw this Tribal/Vintage inspired tunic.  I have never shopped at Marshalls, cause I don't have the patience to go through racks and racks of clothes, but came across this top and instantly added it to my purchases.  Priced at $16.00, this tunic can be worn with a pair of shorts and flats or tights and a pair of heels.  I can't wait to wear this out!

I am a sucker for anything denim!  This soft denim tunic was priced at $12.99.  This tunic is long enough to be worn alone or over a pair of boy shorts.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchases, especially the ones I bought from Marshalls.  I've never been a fan of the department store, but seeing the array of high end designer brands forbargain prices, made me have a change of heart and I look forward to going again, in the near future.

NINA SIMONE

I'm one of those late lovers of the late great, Nina Simone.  It wasn't until YouTube that I got to listen to the riveting, raw talent of this woman.  Now I'm like an obsessed crazed stalker wanting to hear everything, Nina Simone.  I'm constantly listening to her music on Pandora, and all though it leaves me lying in bed with tears streaming down my cheeks, I can't help but to continue to listening to her music.  This song, I Put A Smell On You, is one of my favorites.  Originally recorded in 1965.  Enjoy!

OUTFIT OF THE NIGHT (MACHEL IN CONCERT)

This post is overdue, since Machel Montano performed in Miami almost 2 weeks ago.  I also failed to write a review of the show, which I will do later on in the week.  Anywho, this is what I wore on that hot and humid night...

OUTFIT OF THE NIGHT (WET WILLIES NIGHT)

Saturday, I was suppose to work, but work has been very slow, so I was canceled, to my delight.  I've been meaning to go out for drinks with my sister for a long time, and never get the chance to do so, but tonight, we made it a must, to get our asses out the house.  We decided to go to South Beach's Wet Willies and have drinks, an old Sunday past time for my sister and I.  The weather was warm, for a predictable Summer night and this is what I wore...

SHOE LOVIN (NAUGHTY MONKEY)

I initially wanted to buy these gorgeous Jessica Simpson Kalypso sandals, but it was sold out as quickly as I can grab a hold of my debit card.  I went to DSW yesterday, hoping to buy a nice pair of flat sandals, and of course, I got side tracked to the heels, section.  Still devastated that I didn't get my hands on the JS sandals, I was happy to spot these Naughty Monkey sandals, that is a very close replica of the sought after shoe.  The Naughty Monkey shoe is priced at $79.00 and I brought them in a size 7.  I am a whore for anything brown, so it was no surprise that I chose this color over the black pair.  This shoe will be perfect, not only for the summer, but all year round.  Loves it!

SUMMER MUST HAVES (SALLY HANSEN AIRBRUSH LEGS)

It's only been a week since I picked up this product at CVS and I'm already in love.  I saw a review of the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs on YouTube and wanted to try it out.  I sprayed it on my legs last weekend and I love the finishing result.  This product leaves your legs with an instant airbrush finish with a bit of shimmer.  It takes only a minute to dry and last all night.  Ladies, summer time is here and we all want to show off those legs.  Some of us don't have those Beyonce flawless limbs, but this product is the closest thing to getting those same results.  Try it and tell me what you think!
