NELSONS PURE & CLEAN/DERMA E PRODUCTS

I've been very honest with the acne breakouts I've been experiencing in the last couple of months.  I've used scrubs, masks, and went to get my facials, and yet the problem continues to get worst.  My acne is unlike anything I've experienced before.  They are big and often very painful when I touch the area.  I've decided to get rid of Clinique because it hasn't helped my issue and honestly all of this has been occurring since I started using it.  Prior to Clinique, I have been using Mary Kay.  Mary Kay was great but the issue I had was that it was over drying my skin and it left me with sores around my nose and near my chin area.  Today I went to Whole Foods to look for a product that would be more natural to my skin.  At this point, I'm willing to try just about anything, if it can stop the breakouts and clear my blemishes.  I spoke to one of the women in the area and she recommended I try Nelsons Pure & Clear.  I picked up the Cleansing Wash, Toner and she also recommended I try the Treatment Tablets.  She said that I need to treat my internally too, which made sense.  I also picked up DermaE Problem Skin Moisturizer.  All products are fragrance and cruelty free.  I'm going to try out this product for the entire month of April and give a thorough review.  I'm really hoping that I can control my acne.  I'm getting fed up of constantly spending and wasting money on products that does absolutely nothing to help my skin.

REFLECTIONS OF A TWENTY YR OLD

I'm 1 day away from turning 30 and the emotions were mixed for a couple of weeks now, but I'm happy to say that I'm embracing this change in my life.  The twenties allowed me to fall on my ass many times so that the 30's can finally be a time for me to live it.  I want to accomplish so many things, and though I'm playing catch up at this point, I'm fine with doing it.  When I became a 20 year old woman, I felt time was on my side.  Clubbing became a weekly habit and school just seemed to be of no importance.  From one failed relationship to another, I felt like I knew it all.  I look back and laugh.  Damn I should of listened to the many things my mom told me as a child.  She always talked to me about the company I kept and how most of the people in my circle wouldn't be around for long.  Mommy you knew well!  I've wasted 10 years of my life of doing shit that would of never benefited me or maybe it did.  Can you imagine me being 30 + dating loser ass guys, clubbing every weekend, and not having a care about tomorrow?  I certainly can't, so in that case, I'm happy that I did all the things my mother told me not to do.  They say if you've lived life with no regrets, then you haven't lived life at all.  I guess I've lived!

IN AH MI KHAKI SUIT!

I've always been accustomed to wearing khaki.  It's been a staple piece for me when I go to work, out to dinner with my girlfriends, or clubbing.  This spring/summer it's all about khaki and safari inspired trends.  What I love about khaki is that you can dress it up with sandals and pumps or wear it casually with a pair of Chuck Taylors or flat open toe sandals.  I brought this khaki Boy Scout inspired top from Forever21, and paired it with a pair of dark denim jeans that I purchased from Delia's.  I seriously love Delia's jeans!  I added my favorite pair of red pumps that I purchased from the 10 Dollar Shoe store.  The clutch handbag was purchased on Ebay.

SALLY HANSEN NAIL COLOR HAUL

I stopped off at CVS and purchased more Sally Hansen nail colors.  CVS is having a great sale where you buy 1 and get the second half off.  The colors I chose were 27 Mellow Yellow, 04 Blue Me Away, 02 Whirlwind White, and 29 Lickety-Split Lime.  I love using Sally's because their brushes are so wide that it takes 2 strokes to get the entire color on your nails.  The colors are very pigmented and it last long.  I never got a chance to go to the Sally Hansen store to see if they have more vibrant colors, but I will do that soon.

ALL ABOARD SAILOR THEME LOOK

It's all about Sailor Theme looks this spring.  I paired this skirt from Forever 21, with a wife beater from The Gap, layered a button down top from Old Navy and added this navy blue vest from Charlotte Russe to give it a more wearable look.  What I love about all pieces is that it can be worn separately.  Pair up some gold accessories and a gold strappy sandal for a classier look.

PRISONER OF LOVE

I received an email from a reader who wanted to share her story on finding love and losing it, never having having the opportunity to see him again.  Here's her story and what a good one it is...

My boyfriend and I had been dating for about a year and half when we started having problems.  We argued and fought almost everyday and at that point I wanted to leave the relationship.  When myspace was hot, I met this guy that I had a crush on for so many years, but was too afraid to talk to him. One day, I decided to send him a friend request, and he accepted it and to my surprise, he wrote me a message.  Basically he said that he has had a crush on me for so many years, but that I would never like him and so he never approached me.  We began conversing through myspace and soon exchanged phone numbers.  We had so many things in common and I felt like I had finally found someone that I can be with, but the problem was that I was still in a relationship with my man.  This guy knew, but my boyfriend didn't and at that point I didn't care.  We would see each other at the club and give each other looks and I wanted so bad to be with him but I couldn't let anyone know.  We hung out a couple times and had long talks for hours.  One night as I left the club, he called me and wanted me to come to his place.  I knew that it would be considered a booty call, but I was horny as hell and didn't care at that point.  I was wearing a sexy short dress and he just looked good enough to f**k!  We began kissing and he began touching me in all the right places.  I wanted to have sex so badly, but my conscious wouldn't allow me to.  I just couldn't do it.  I felt like my man deserved more than for me to cheat on him and so I went home.  The guy and I continued to talk, and he wasn't at all upset about me leaving.  He was patient.  Suddenly the phone calls stopped coming.  I would leave messages and he never called.  I just assumed that he found someone new and so I decided to work on my relationship with my boyfriend.  My boyfriend and I were able to reconcile and he and I are still together.  One day, I got a phone call from him telling me that he was locked up and didn't want to tell me, because he was embarrassed.  In the end, I decided to cut off communication from him, because I felt like it was a sign.  I haven't heard from him since.  I heard through his friends that he is once again in jail.  I wish him the best.

NUDITY IN THE DANCEHALL

The graphic pics of dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has been floating the internet since Wednesday.  While I won't upload the actual pics on Chatty Patty, I will take the time out to discuss this growing trend of nudity in the dancehall community.  2010 has proven to be a year of desperate acts of fame.  Female artist Ms Ting had a music video premiered with her breast exposed in a shower scene and while there is such thing as freedom of press, it came across as trashy.  Many people responded by saying that Ms Ting was desperate for a comeback and thought that exposing her body would cause controversy.  Instead, it seemed to make a little noise and seemed to be forgotten as a desperate act to be seen.  More photos of her on the beach were shown, showing her once again, with her breast exposed.  The website that provided the pics were invited to come along with Ms. Ting, a male and female companion.  Obviously the pics weren't leaked.  Now, Vybz Kartel has followed in the same steps and unlike Ms Ting, Kartel is labeled as the hottest dancehall act out of Jamaica.  So I sit here and wonder why suddenly these nude pics of artist giving and receiving oral sex is being exposed?  Former Gaza artist, Lisa Hype was let go because of the recent pics of her giving an "unknown" male a blow job, and yet Kartel is seen happily looking into the camera as a female is licking his balls.  Hypocritical if you ask me!  We all lead by example and while every artist has the right to express their sexuality, they must be reminded that they are role models to the youth of the Caribbean whether they accept it or not.  Let the music speak, and not the things we do in the privacy of our home.

EARLY BIRTHDAY GIFT

I got this Canon PowerShot SX20 IS camera for an early birthday present from my hubbie.  I had it on my birthday wish list and sent him plenty of hints to let him know how much I needed this camera in my life.  I can't wait to really start snapping some pics and taking better quality videos for my youtube channel.  I like how this camera is literally like a camera/camcorder all rolled up in one.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm blessed to get another item off my list.  Hopefully it's the bicycle or sewing machine.  Hint Hint!

DEPRESSION, APPRECIATION, & HOPE

This week I've been feeling so down and depressed, just thinking about turning 30 years old and not being anywhere closer to where I would of liked my life to be.  While some are getting married, having children, purchasing their first home, or receiving their BA or MA, I'm still sitting here never having the blessings of obtaining them.  I looked at my life and thought where did it all go wrong?  Where were the promises I made to myself when I graduated back in 1998 and how did it somehow get lost somewhere between turning 21 and 30?  I sat home all week, crying and just not feeling the need to want to do anything but sleep.  Not even television amused me, and God always finds a way of making me realize that things could be much worse.  I could of been addicted to drugs, prostituting, or even dead.  Today, I am reminded of all the great things that I have in life.  My man is so supportive and so loving and I thank God that I have him in my life.  My relationship isn't perfect, we argue and break up constantly.  There are no rings or babies, but there is a promise of tomorrow and for that I am grateful.  My bestfriend and I, along with my sister, went out to eat tonight and as I walked in the restaurant, she sits there with a bouquet of flowers, my favorite magazine "Marie Claire" and a cake to congratulate me on doing so well with this blog.  I've never in my life had a friend, who cares for me more than she cares for herself.  At times, I don't feel deserving of her friendship and I'm sure she feels the same way too.  My sister is like my other half.  At times, we catch each other saying the exact same word at the exact same time.  We are so different, and yet so alike and at the end of the day, I only have 1 of her and though we argue constantly, she is forever by my side.  Just being around these 3 people today is a constant reminder of how lucky I am to have them in my life.  Growing older isn't frightening, it's looking behind you and seeing who is standing there when you come across days like this.  I now look towards Dirty 30 with promise.  I anticipate what my next move will be and I pray to God that he gives me the strength to continue to push towards a better tomorrow.

HEY EVERYONE

Hey beautiful people!  I just wanted to touch base with you guys. I've been sick with a nasty cold this week, and it's affecting everything I do on a daily basis.  Yes I've been blogging, but I wanted to do more like the workaholic I am.  I've been testing out my products in the meantime, and I will do a review on them on my YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/TheRealChattyPatty.  If you haven't subscribed already, then you can do it today.  My Looks of the Week, didn't happen like it was suppose to, so I won't force it.  I will just wait till I'm well and try it out again next week.  Hope you all are doing great.  Talk to you tomorrow, or maybe tonight.  Hey you never know!

DEGREE BODY MIST

Degree Body Mist in Classic Romance was one of the items that came with my Beautyfix membership package.  I love this product.  It's soft and has a great floral scent, perfect for daytime and before bed.

IT'S OFFICIAL...

It's official, the King of Soca Machel Montano has been added to the roster of performers for 2010 Best of the Best concert Memorial Day weekend.  If you didn't get a chance to see him perform last weekend at Club Revolution, then go out and buy your tickets today at ticketmaster or www.thebestofthebestconcert.com.

ULTA & TREE HUT SHEA BODY SCRUB

So today, I took a trip out to Ulta.  I only found out about this beauty store last year when my friend told me how great their store is and how she even prefers it over Sephora.  I was amazed at the amount of products they offered.  Not only cosmetics, but also hair, fragrance, and body products.  I walked in just wanting little things and came across Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub in Coconut Lime.  My cousin Yvette had this product when I visited her in NY and I checked them out and was amazed at the price, only $6.59.  On Amazon.com, you can purchase a pack of 3 for $16.00.  I have yet to find a body scrub in comparison to Crabtree & Evelyn's, but I'm more than willing to try this one out.  I will do another review at a later date.

1st OFFICIAL BLOG SALE!

I've seen so many of my favorite bloggers doing this and I'm going to officially jump on the bandwagon and join in. I'm going to have my first official BLOG SALE! Yipee! Anywho, I have so many things that are up for sale, and I will just start off with one item at a time and see how it goes. I brought these shoes at DSW last year. The original price of the shoe was $99.94 and they were on clearance for half off. I've never worn them out, I've only tried them on in the privacy of my bedroom. It is a size 7. The brand name is Cindy. It's a very classy round toe leather pump with a snake skin print to the back. The shoe has a creamy yellowish tone. This is shoe is very comfortable! Unfortunately, I've never worn them and since I'm in the process of decluttering, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to put this up for sale. I'm asking for 40.00 which will include shipping. Please note that you can negotiate the price. At this time, I will only accept US buyers. If you are interested, please email me at therealchattypatty@gmail.com. Thank you!

OOTN MACHEL CONCERT

This isn't what I had brought to wear for Machel concert, but when I put on the outfit, I didn't feel it was suitable and decided to wear something a little more casual and allow me to carry on when the time is right. I finally chose this outfit.

MACHEL IN CONCERT REVIEW

Last night I attended Machel concert at Club Revolution. I arrived after 1 am and was surprised at how easy it was for me to find parking. There weren't any long lines by the time we approached the entrance. Machel had yet to perform and so my girls and I walked around the venue to scan out the scene. I was disappointed in realizing that the fete was indoors and that the outdoor part of Revolution was not being used. There were people like ants! I didn't buy a VIP ticket, because they were sold out by the time I finally purchased mine. General was upstairs and VIP was downstairs. That seemed very odd. I went to the bar to get a drink which took about 15 minutes, because there was 1 bartender and finally after people began complaining, another bartender made himself available. The drinks weren't overpriced which was good. I then went to the bathroom and was surprised that not only were there no lines, but the it was fairly clean. I stood out on the balcony and was so happy to see so many familiar faces that I haven't seen in so many years. It felt so good to be back to a fete where you didn't feel inferior to anyone. There were no segregation of people. Blacks, Whites, Chinese, Indian people filled Club Revolution all for one purpose, to see MACHEL MONTANO! Machel finally came on stage around 2 am. The crowd was in a frenzy. My girls and I were able to secure a very tiny spot to get a glimpse of the King of Soca! It was very distracting to see so many people on stage while the man performed. That was a huge disappointment for me, along with the tiny peep hole view I got of the show in which my bestie and I switched turns so we weren't disappointed. Shaggy performed Wining Season and Toro with Machel. He didn't stay long at all. Power 96 DJ Laz followed with a song in which he reminded the ladies that though his leg is crippled, he can work his tongue and proceeded to show us how he did it. Someone please pass me the vomit bag! Lol! Another young and upcoming artist came on stage who Machel has a song with that is currently being played on the radio. The crowd didn't seem to really care about him. Machel had the crowd screaming when he mentioned how Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade and actress Gabrielle Union were in attendance. That was a good look! Machel performed Too Young To Soca, Big Truck, It's Carnival, and performed many of his Carnival 2K10 hits. The crowd didn't stay still for the entire performance. I began to sweat so much that I had to go outside and get a breather for a couple of minutes. Machel's performance ended around 3:30 am. The party ended at 4 am.

Pros:
* I loved the crowd. It was a mixture of different ages and races. No unruly people in the venue. Just mature folks wanting to palance!
* Machel's performance was the best I've seen in such a long time. Despite the fact that HD wasn't there and that GB was the man behind the music, it didn't put a damper on his performance.
* Parking was easy to find and affordable.

Cons:
* The venue sucked ass! It wasn't a blizzard outside nor was it raining so there was absolutely no reason was the entire fete to be indoors.
* The venue was too small for the amount of people that attended the fete.
* General admission had barely enough space to see Machel to perform and for the amount of money the tickets were sold, we were at a disadvantage.
* VIP was no better. They were at the bottom level and was also left with limited space to party and a great view to see Machel on stage.
* The upgrade ticket service was awful. VIP became too overcrowded for the area that they were in which meant that they paid too much money for a lack of good service.
* There were way too many people on stage. This isn't a hip hop concert and Machel didn't need a crew of people for him to put on a good show. It was distracting and unnecessary.
* 4 am for the fete to end wasn't cute at all! If this fete was at a totally different venue, the party would have gone on for a much longer time.

Overall the venue was a big reason why this fete wasn't successful. There are so many venues in South Florida and Revolution would of been the last option for me. Club Bongos on the rooftop would of been the perfect location for this fete.

3 LAB CLEANSING FOAM

I know it may be a little too soon to do a review on 3 Lab Cleansing Foam, but I thought I should update you on how this product is working for me so far. As you know, this is one of the 8 products I received in my Beautyfix package and I am happy to report that the results are so far so good. I'm not a huge fan of anything "FOAM", but for some reason, this product works for me. You will only need a tiny drop and as you apply it on your damp face, it begins to foam in a rich lather. This product doesn't over dry my skin, and so far, I haven't gotten any breakouts. I looked on line in inquiring about their other products, and they are quite expensive. This cleansing foam is 40.00, whereas my Beautyfix subscription was 29.00 special for 8 products. No one said the price of beauty would be cheap!

STYLE WATCH APRIL ISSUE

Well my Style Watch April Issue with Jennifer Aniston on the cover arrived today! I swear I love this magazine!

OOTN BLUE MARTINI

Last night I intended on going to Karma to see Chico Debarge perform but I had a change of plans and decided to try out the Blue Martini in Miami. Tonight was a cool night, but not that severe so that I would need a jacket, and so I thought layering would be the perfect choice for tonight.

IT'S MY ANNIVERSARY

One year ago today, I launched Chatty Patty knowing that I wanted to bring about a change in my life. I suffered from writers block and couldn't figure out how I could get out of it. One day while my friend and I were emailing one another I joked and said "move aside Perez Hilton, meet Chatty Patty". My friend ran with the idea and set me up on blogger and was so supportive in getting me serious about blogging. I haven't looked back since and I am eternally grateful for what she has done. I'm so grateful to finally do something I love no matter if it brings in no income. I enjoy reading your emails, and text messages stating how much you love Chatty Patty. I do this for you guys and I would not let you down. Of course there were days when I wanted to give up and I thought, "who the hell is even reading this", but I never stopped. I continued to blog until I started to build an audience. I'm only getting started. This is only the beginning. I've set up a YouTube page, TheRealChattyPatty, in which I will make video reviews on some of my favorite beauty products, fashion, discussing hot topics, and so much more. This will in no way interfere with Chatty Patty the blog. This blog will always be a priority. Again, I thank you for spreading the word and letting your friends, co-workers, and family know about Chatty Patty. Things can only get better from here. Patty loves you more than rainbows.

Thank you...

* Marie you set up Chatty Patty and without you, I'm not sure if this blog would of existed. I don't have to tell you how important you are to me, in my life.
* Whitey, thank you for being my rock and the shoulder to cry on when I wanted to give up. I'm so blessed to have a man like you in my life, who believes in my dreams and holds my hand along the way.
* Natural Freaks you guys allowed me to interview you when no one wanted to. You saw my potential, and because of you, Brooklyn are fully aware I exist. You guys are my boys for life.
* Julie & Ali, & Kelly thank you for taking so many of my "Random Shots" and giving me great material to blog about.
* Nicole, you are truly like my big sister and you make me want to become a better person everyday.
* Family...it is too many of you to even list, so you know who you are...near or far, you guys log on and always show me love.
* My die hard Chatty Patty supporters...Melissa P, Narda, Momo, Tsahi, Clivia, Nadine, Kamiesha, Tiffany Moore, Karen, Raquel, Juve and others, thank you for continuing to leave comments whether here or through text.

**If I forgot any names, don't take it to heart..it's too many of you to list**

LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD

As I approach my 1 year anniversary of Chatty Patty on Saturday, I can't help but to feel a bit pissed off at the lack of support I've gotten from people. If you're a friend of mines on Facebook, you would of seen my status update that I posted earlier of my dissatisfaction of support from my "closest friends" and confidants. I support everyone, because I know how hard it is to live a dream in a time when everyone wants to fight you down. Some of my readers have their own blogs and I have shown my love to their blog, but when it comes to mines, I feel like some people just don't care. Why should I care? I can't help it but I do. Within 1 year of blogging, I've only gain 41 followers and 2o something fans. I blog my ass off every night not because I'm doing it for the fame, but because I love it. I'm not getting paid for this! I probably made about 3 dollars and change from adsense. I spend my own money on contest giveaways and product reviews. All I ask is for support. I'm always there for my friends when they need me, and I expect the same in return. I've seen more support from people I barely know. My parents always told me that strangers would be your greatest supporter and that your friends will be the ones to show a lack of, but I try to be optimistic and see the best in everyone. Everyone may not like me, that's a given, but it would be nice to have the support of those that I grew up with, those that I party with, those that I call my friends, those that are my family. It starts from home and without my home base backing me up, how do I expect to reach further in life. I shouldn't have to write a post like this. This is unnecessary, but I am, because I want people to realize that we need UNITY in our community. No backstabbing, name calling, and a fight down. UNITY!

LUSH GREASE LIGHTNING

Last year I purchased this product at Lush in hopes that it would clear my acne. I've been using this product for months now, and honestly, my acne has gotten worse. The gel does nothing to my skin and I've since stopped using it. I've read reviews where some bloggers swear by this product, but it didn't work for me. Again, what may not have worked for me, may actually be great for you.

VINTAGE INSPIRED/MODERN LOOK PT1

When I laid eyes on this vintage dress last year, I knew I had to purchase it. I have yet to wear it out, though I attempted to. I love the fit of this dress and the versatility of it. It comes with a belt, though I prefer to wear it without one. This dress can be paired with tights for a more funkier look.

BLOG BLAST!

I wanted to give some love on 2 blogs that I've come across and both women are from my parents homeland of Trinidad & Tobago. Trini Gourmet is a great blog where numerous recipes are posted on some tasty Trinbagonian dishes. I'm looking to try out a few of the recipes myself. Ms Virgo's Corner is a great blog of all the insight into the entertainment world. All the news on upcoming films, will be posted on her blog. Check them out. Tell them Chatty Patty sent you!

BEAUTYFIX

Afrobella featured this company on her blog months ago and I decided to go on their site and see what their all about. Beautyfix is an exclusive beauty club where you pay a fee of 49.00 each quarter to get the hottest products delivered to your door. You choose which products you want to try, which were 8 items and they are sent to you. Two weeks ago, they had a special where I was about able sign up for 20 dollars off, and so I thought it was perfect. I'm so excited because all of the products are not familiar to me and I am so eager to do some reviews on something fresh. Honestly, too many of us bloggers are reviewing the same product and there is nothing wrong with it, but I think people are looking for something different. Periodically, I will be doing reviews on these products, once I've been given the chance to really test them out.

MAKEUP LOOK SOFLO DANCEHALL AWARDS

I've always been afraid of color and so I stick to my nudes and browns, but lately, with some criticism from my sister, I realized that I needed to brighten up my face. And so this picture is the first time I sported a RED LIP. I said if I'm going to do color, I might was well start off with a bang. This was my makeup look for the Soflo Dancehall Awards on Sunday. The other picture are the items I used to get this look. All my makeup gurus who follow Chatty Patty, please feel free to add any pointers. I'm not a makeup artist and would never claim to be and so I would love to get some feedback whether positive or negative. Thanks.

GOING BACK TO NATURAL

For about a year now, I've been wearing acrylics on my nails. I would get them done every 2 weeks, and replacements every month and a half. Well, it's done some major damage to my nails and so I decided to end my relationship with my acrylics and start rocking them natural. Plus I can't afford to do them anymore. Lol. Anywho, my nails actually grow very quick and long, so I never needed falsies in the first place, but I love the look of acrylics and when my natural nails break, it always breaks very deep and the pain is too much to bare. Now, that I'm natural, I decided to stock up on some nail polishes, as if I already don't have more than enough. I picked up this one from Sally Hansen "Instant Dri Fast Dry Nail Color" in Lively Lilac. For those that use this brand, you know how wide the brush is and it makes it easy to apply the nail polish. I love this color, because it's perfect for spring, and it with all the damages to my nail, it was able to cover them. Great product and I think I shall get more in different colors. CVS didn't really have all the colors I wanted, so I think I may take a trip to the actual Sally Hansen store sometime this week. What other brands would you recommend? I brought Milani, but their brush is so narrow.
